KONZA National Network, a Designated Qualified Health Information NetworkTM that facilitates the seamless national exchange of comprehensive medical information, today announced the appointment of the newest member to its Board of Directors, Jonathan Smith, M.P.H.

As the Executive Director of Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health in Lawrence, KS, Smith brings over a decade of senior leadership experience to the board, particularly with increasing access to healthcare for underserved populations throughout Michigan and Kansas. In his leadership work at Federally Qualified Health Centers and the Community Care Network of Kansas—the state’s primary care association—he has led initiatives in health information technology, strategic operations, quality improvement and equity-focused initiatives.

Smith holds a master’s degree in public health from Dartmouth College and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Western Michigan University. While at Dartmouth, he was voted class student marshal and received the Dartmouth Institute Leadership Award, which recognizes students for their capability to provide meaningful leadership for the most vulnerable U.S. populations.

In addition to his work in public health, Smith has spent over three years in partnership with KONZA and the Kansas Healthcare Collaborative assisting physician members of KONZA transition to value-based care.

“We are delighted to welcome Jonathan to our Board of Directors. His extensive experience and deep commitment to improving healthcare access will be invaluable to our organization,” said Laura McCrary, Ed.D., President and CEO of KONZA. “We look forward to benefiting from his insights and leadership as we continue to expand our network, products and services.”

“Advancing public health is core to our organization’s mission,” said Joe Davidson, M.D., Chair of KONZA’s Board and a Wichita-based physician. “Jonathan’s public health expertise, coupled with his proven leadership in healthcare technology and strategic operations, will be instrumental in helping us improve patient outcomes.”
