HIE is the electronic exchange of clinical information among healthcare organizations. This bidirectional exchange of patient clinical data allows physicians, nurses and other healthcare providers to access patients’ digital health records securely and efficiently.
KONZA powers our HIE, and many others, in partnership with state medical societies, which includes more than 13 million unique patients and over 10,000 providers in 10 states (KS, MO, SC, TX, MS, GA, CT, NJ, LA, CA). Available to any organization in any state in the nation, the KONZA platform utilizes a secure electronic network provided by a collaboration of healthcare organizations.
KONZA connects to other health information exchanges and to the national eHealth Exchange, directly benefiting healthcare professionals and patients with KONZA’s delivery of unequaled, streamlined intelligence. KONZA’s goal is to improve healthcare quality, coordination and efficiency through the exchange of health information at the point of care.
Our HIE includes physicians, nurses, psychologists and other health professionals, as well as physician offices, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, behavioral health facilities, federally qualified health centers and other healthcare sites.
Patient data received by the HIE may include: a list of facilities where the patient was seen, admit and discharge dates, lab results, procedures and diagnoses, current and past medications, allergies, chief complaint, visit notes, operation notes and a patient’s primary care providers.
Our HIE connects with other HIEs across the nation. We also connect with public health agencies, federal agencies (such as the Veterans Health Administration), national lab companies and prescription monitoring programs.
Physicians and other clinicians securely share critical patient information at the point of care, supporting improved care quality and better patient health outcomes. HIEs enable medical professionals to meet their quality reporting obligations more easily under the emerging performance- and value-based payment systems being adopted by federal and commercial health plans.
The HIE allows healthcare providers to quickly access their patients’ data across disparate healthcare systems, reducing treatment delays and enhancing clinical decision making. Additionally, the HIE improves patient care coordination and transitions of care by allowing healthcare professionals to access their patients’ most recent test results, procedures, diagnosis, medications, allergies and more.
